To day (11 Febr. 2008) a roundtrip from Cusco to Machu Picchu including a meal, including the shuttle bus, including entrance fee, still cost USD 220 a person. The same roundtrip in a standard train still costs USD 180 a person. Rediculous!!!!
This is no place for students and backpackers!!!
More than 10.000 people in Cusco protested against the privitization of Machu Picchu on Febr. 7 2008.
One fears that tourists stay away.
