Bush says he will “fight” for a Free Trade Agreement with Peru

US President George W Bush assures that he will “fight hard” for the ratification of the Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) with Peru and Colombia, a pending issue in the US Congress. He accepted that “it will be a complicated vote”.

“I ask the Democrats — and the Republicans — to think about the consequences of this vote. They should understand that, when we negotiate a Free Trade Agreement in good faith, we must understand the consequences of not supporting it,” he explained.

“This will not be my first commercial battle, nor my last, but it will be a battle,” he insisted.
