31,010 taking San Marcos admission test

The traditional admissions procedure for San Marcos University started today with the first selection test. There are a total of 31,010 applicants for just 3,463 available places.

The two tests, one today and one tomorrow, take place in Lima and in four other cities around Peru – Moyobamba, Chiclayo, Tacna and Ayacucho. Today’s exam is for applicants in the fields of Health Sciences, Basic Sciences and Engineering; tomorrow’s will be for would-be students of Business Studies, Literature and Humanities.


San Marcos offers 57 different courses, distributed between 50 faculties and departments. The three-hour exam, which starts today at 9am, consists of 80 multiple choice questions – 40 in numerical and mathematical reasoning, 40 in general knowledge.
