Seventy people in San Martín were vaccinated against rabies yesterday after being bitten by bats that are probably infected.

A health official revealed that 52 cases of bites from vampire bats have been reported in the Shunte district so far this year. The 18 other patients are receiving treatment after they came into contact with two cattle that may have died of rabies, probably contracted from a bat.
