Premier attacks human rights groups

Prime Minister Jorge del Castillo expressed satisfaction yesterday at the indefinitely shelving of the accusation against President Garcia over his role in the El Fronton prison massacre, but reacted with indignation at the suggestion, made by human rights groups, that there was political pressure for this decision.

“Those who say that are communists disguised as lawyers, paid up communists, stupid tools of the Shining Path. You just have to reject them out of hand. It was twenty years ago, it’s over, gentlemen. What kind of hatred is this?” he said.

He added that “there’s no shortage of these agents of hate who keep poking about and keep living off immortal loathing,” and that ”Dr Chirinos, who ruled on this resolution, was until yesterday a hero for Aprodeh and is now a villain.”
