Huancavelica expects 8,000 visitors for Holy Week

Holy Week approaches, and with it the arrival of thousands of tourists to the mountain provinces of Peru. Huancavelica is one of the favorite places for national and international visitors, and this year the city expects the arrival of around 8,000 tourists. The regional tourism body told the Andina agency that Holy Week activities will run from March 30th to April 8th, and will include nighttime processions, carpets of flowers in the streets, solemn church events and a festival of local sweets and soups.

On the last day of the festivities there will be a festival featuring Huancavelica’s famous scissor dancers, a remarkable spectacle (see photo).
