Two lightning strikes kill twelve-year-olds in Puno

Two children died in the Azángaro district (Puno) on Monday after being struck by lightning. Both were twelve years old.

The lieutenant governor of the local Quechua community of Chimpa Jilahuata told the Andina agency that one of them was killed at 2pm, as he was looking after a herd of cattle. The other was playing with his younger brother in the town of
Azángaro when he was struck. The younger child, although hit by the same bolt of lightning, suffered a few minutes of unconsciousness and is now making a complete recovery.
