Spanish women arrested at Lima airport with over 23kg of cocaine

Two Spanish women were arrested at Lima’s international airport as they attempted to leave the country with more than 20kg of cocaine. The drug was dissolved in water and hidden in bottles labeled as natural remedies, as well as hidden inside a computer.

María Reyna Sierra Duarte (42) was stopped as she was checking in for her flight to Madrid, according to an Interior Ministry press release.

When counter-narcotics police searched her luggage, they found 10 bottles of complementary medicines from a well-known company, which proved in this instance to contain a creamy yellow liquid that tested positive for cocaine. The total weight of the haul was 10.788 kilos.

Another Spanish citizen, María Damiana Alberdi Bera (32), was separately arrested at the same airport where she was attempting to take a flight to Milan with 12.334 kilos of cocaine in brick shaped packages, hidden inside the casing of a computer.
