 Flooding in Cañete in 2002

The Cañete River is on the point of bursting its banks after a rise in water levels caused by heavy rains in the mountains over the past few days, according to a report by RPP.

One of the first zones to be affected will be San Carlos, located within the flood basin at km 150 of the Southern Panamerican Highway.

Local mayor Javier Alvarado is traveling to the zone to assess damage, while a works team equipped with heavy plant machinery is working to shore up the banks and hopefully prevent flooding.
