200 traditional dishes in Lamas for Corpus Christi

The district of Lamas in San Martin, north-eastern Peru, is to hold a special festival on the day of Corpus Christi, June 9th. The local government’s tourism representative, Tomas Cotrina, told RPP News that his city plans an event with local folk dances, over 200 different traditional dishes, and cocktails based on cane liquor, cinnamon and cloves.

Lamas is hoping to revitalize its national tourism industry, despite receiving few foreign visitors. The region is popular mainly for its untouched ecosystems and biodiversity, so the local government is careful to ensure that tourism is sustainable.
