Peru will play in Venezuela’s Copa America

Peru’s national soccer team has decided that it will play in Venezuela’s Copa America. They had previously considered a boycott to put pressure on Venezuela to back the Andean nations in opposing FIFA’s proposed ban on holding international games in stadiums located at over 2,500m altitude.

Spokesmen have now stated that the team needs the experience that the Copa America offers, and trust in other nations to oppose the ban that has been called “discriminatory” and “against the fair and equal spirit of sport” by Bolivian president Evo Morales.
